Shaina received her Honors Bachelor of Science in Biology and Computer Science from Trent University in 2022. Her undergraduate thesis, “The Use of Artificial Neural Networks and Decision Trees: Implications for Healthcare Research” spoke on the benefits of combining Artificial Neural Networks with Decision Trees in healthcare research to demystify the prediction capabilities of the Black Box Machines that are Neural Networks.

Shaina is currently a Master’s of Science student under Dr. Amber Simpson. Her research focuses on the intersection between Artificial Intelligence, healthcare, and the environment. As of September 2022, she is an executive team member in the Queen’s Cancer Research Club and a mentor for the URNSCT Journal.
