Dr. Robyn K. Rowe is a mother of four and a hereditary member of Teme Augama Anishnabai in Northeastern Ontario, Canada. She is of mixed First Nation and settler decent. Her maternal family is from the Lake Temegami area where her mom and siblings live, on Bear Island.
She holds a Honour’s BA in Psychology with a minor in sociology, a Masters in Indigenous Relations, and a PhD in rural and northern health. She started a Post-Doctoral Fellowship in August 2022 at Queen’s University with a focus on Indigenous Sovereignty, decolonization, and data in Artificial Intelligence. Within Dr. Simpson’s lab, she is a part of an emerging group of unified thinkers as part of the AI, Data Justice, and Medicine Studio.
She is a maker of many things – it’s her absolute favourite thing. She makes bags, dolls, stuffies, ribbon skirts, mittens, moccasins, and more. She is also a really passionate amateur photographer. She really enjoys visual and graphic design, beautifying reports and other documents for community distribution where she incorporates her love of photography into her designs by using her own photographs in her knowledge translation outputs.
