Katy Scott
MSc in Computer Science 2022
Katy received her Master’s of Science with a Field of Study in Artificial Intelligence at Queen’s, supervised by Dr. Amber Simpson and Dr. Randy Ellis. Her thesis studied survival time prediction with radiographic images for primary and metastatic liver cancers using statistical, machine learning, and deep learning models. Her research interests include applying machine learning techniques for medical image analysis to improve diagnostic and prognostic prediction.
Katy now works at the Princess Margaret Bioinformatics and Computational Genomics Laboratory, supervised by Dr. Benjamin Haibe-Kains. She is working on developing a platform to study patterns of convergence and complementarity of clinical, radiological, and sequencing data.
When she’s not in the lab, you can find Katy at rehearsals for community theatre musical productions, reading about a new fantasy world, planet, or culture in her book club’s current novel, or completing every side quest to avoid the main boss in a video game.
