Dongfang Cai

Dongfang graduated from the University of Manitoba and is now a graduate student in Biomedical Informatics at Queen’s University. During her time working in a microbiology lab, she developed a strong interest in biomedical science and is passionate about applying AI and data-driven methods to healthcare. Currently, in Dr. Simpson’s lab, she is working on her master’s project, which focuses on developing a wastewater surveillance system for the early detection of emergent health threats, such as COVID-19.

Outside of academics, Dongfang enjoys spending time with her cat, exploring international cuisines, photography, and practicing yoga.
