  • Pivots, Pitfalls and Productivity – How are you navigating the new normal?
    Facilitated by Crowdmark, moderated by James Colliander, Department of Mathematics, University of British Columbia – with panelists from York, U of T, McGill and NorthWestern
    August 11, 2pm
    The Global Pandemic hit and you had to pivot your courses online, overnight. Remote assessments including labs, assignments and exams posed one of the biggest challenges. Join our distinguished panel August 11th at 2pm ET/1pm CT for a critical review of best practices in online assessments to help you prepare for a successful fall term online, in-person or both.

  • Supporting and Leveraging Teaching Assistants
    Facilitated by the Centre for Teaching and Learning Educational Development Associates
    Wednesday, August 12, 2020, 10:30 – 11:30am
    This webinar will outline some strategies for supporting Teaching Assistants in both off-line and on-line teaching environments. We will also introduce the new TA toolkit and discuss how to empower TAs to bring their own skills and experience into the classroom. We welcome general and more discipline-specific questions and comments during our Q & A period.

  • Perusall Workshop
    Facilitated by Eric Mazur, Balkanski Professor of Physics and Applied Physics at Harvard University
    Teaching remotely this semester or for the entire school year? Join Eric Mazur, Balkanski Professor of Physics and Applied Physics at Harvard University for an interactive discussion on improving remote teaching. Eric will share some of the things that worked well for him as he made the rapid transition to online teaching this past Spring. During this session, Eric will model live lectures with pre-class reading assignments and asynchronous, interactive video. Participants will start by playing the roles of ‘students’ and completing a short pre-class ‘assignment’ with interactive discussion on both text and video.Multiple sessions available:

Instructor Summer (Camp)Fireside Chat – Featuring Perusall Demo

Join the Computing Instructional Support Team (CIST) for a chat about how you are preparing to take your courses online in the fall. We’re doing these every week and will be planning some demos of tools that you will have access to.

Since, August 3rd is a holiday, the next meeting will be Monday, August 10th at 2:30pm. Christian Muise is planning to do a GitHub Classroom and demo this week, so be sure to check that out if you are interested in it. Join the Teams meeting here.
