Dear all,
The Ontario Universities Fair was held in Toronto Friday September 19 – Sunday September 21. Once again this year, Queen’s School of Computing students donated their time and energy to represent their School at the Fair and help us recruit the best and brightest of high school students. I thank them on your behalf for their loyalty and brilliance. We are so proud of them.
I also would like to thank Wendy Powley who, as she does every year, spent the weekend promoting the School at the event and convincing every young woman to whom she spoke that Computing is the discipline to study and that QSC is the place to do it.
Here is how Wendy described our team’s contribution at the Fair:
Irene,
It was awesome, as always. Lots of interest in computing — and lots of girls! Our brochures and newsletter, unfortunately, were gone quickly, but, that didn’t stop us! And we gave out half your box of business cards — so expect a few calls!
Our students are absolutely OUTSTANDING!! Everyone did an amazing job — I’m thinking they should all go into recruiting instead of computing!
Thanks to all of you who volunteered your time over the weekend. I’m quite certain that you managed to recruit many more outstanding students who will follow in your footsteps. It is very rewarding to learn that a student chose to come to Queen’s because of your influence.
Hope your voices and feet recover. You must have done my job for me this time around because amazingly I still have a voice, and I managed to spend 2 more hours standing last night after I arrived home.
Wendy
