Biography
Amoon Jamzad is a postdoctoral fellow at School of Computing, Queen’s University. He received his BSc in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, and MSc and PhD in Biomedical Engineering from University of Tehran, Iran in 2007, 2010 and 2015 respectively. His PhD was focused on ultrasound signal and image analysis to estimate the structural properties of kidney stones noninvasively. After his PhD, Amoon collaborated with University of Tehran as a guest lecturer and lab instructor for 3 years. He joined Med-I Lab at Queen’s in April 2019 and he is mainly involved with cancer cell detection research, particularly the use of ultrasonic and optical spectroscopic devices and analysis for margin detection in cancer treatment surgery.
Awards
  • Received “Engineering Excellence Award” in FEAS Research Symposium at Queen’s University for the poster entitled “Computer Assisted Cancer Cell Detection with Raman Spectroscopy: A multidisciplinary workflow,” 2019.
  • Received the Best Article Award in ICBME2015 for presentation of “Analysis of Backscattered Ultrasound RF Echoes from Adjacent Scan Lines for Surface Roughness Characterization: A Phantom Study,” 2015.
