Description:
Dear colleagues,
I would be grateful if you could forward this to the appropriate person(s) in your departments.
I am an art historian researching early catalogue descriptions of works of art by Rembrandt. I am trying to develop a statistical database for comparing data (specific value judgments and also prices recorded by various cataloguers). I am looking to engage a student researcher to help me design the database and analyze the results — this could be either an undergraduate who would apply to work with me under the summer research program (www.queensu.ca/ors/USSRP.html) or a graduate student who could be compensated through my SSHRC grant. I plan to engage the help of art history students, but the actual creation and analysis of the database seems like
more of a job for a statistician or a computer science student (I am also contacting the math department). Please let me know if you have anyone who would be interested in discussing this with me.
Many thanks,
Stephanie Dickey, Bader Chair in Northern Baroque Art, Dept. of Art
My name is Brenda and I’m one of the co-chairs for the Arts & Science Committee for the Environment.
We are currently in the midst of designing our own website and we are looking for someone that is able to edit a template that we have for our website. I was wondering if you had some contacts that you could possibly refer us to or a department that we could contact to acquire more information? That would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your time,
Brenda Lien

I am reaching out to the foremost CS schools the U.S. to recruit talent for my start-up (www.kikin.com), and it occurs to me that Queen’s might be also interesting. Might you have promising undergraduate/graduate in the areas of: ontology development; semantic entity extraction/categorization; relevance/intent analysis; behavioral profiling; business intelligence; and mobile development. We are actively recruiting form any and all corners of the world! The prospects of working at a hot start-up in NYC should be standalone attractive … but this being my fourth consecutive startup (after Vonage; Eachnet/eBay China; gate5/Nokia OVI Maps) hopefully portends success.
If you are interested in working for Kikin, please contact Dean McKeown or Dr Selim Akl.
